Chilean fauna's day

On November 8, 2014, is celebrated in our country's the Chilean Fauna's day for the first time, organized by the Roots & Shoots program in Chile, which seeks to generate interest in the population of local species and their protection..

It is important for us wildlife lovers day. The day is celebrated with a fair in Quinta Normal in Santiago, sponsored by organizations such as the Ministry of Environment, CONAF, CODEFF, Selva Viva, Chiloé Silvestre, National Zoo and others.

The idea of this event is to generate interest in the Chilean people for it's environment, it's native species, their characteristics, ecological importance and distribution throughout the country, also for the community to know, value and therefore want to protect some important of our natural heritage.

The celebration includes an educational conference and trade show where you can learn about the great diversity of wildlife in our country. You need to create awareness among the people; children, adults, seniors, teenagers, everyone, because there are many endangered species such as the Darwin's frog, Darwin's fox, Southern Huemul, Northern Huemul, Juan Fernández firecrown and some more.

Get informed about their flora and fauna.

A country that I like to visit: Japan

Since I was a little girl I've been intrigued to know Asia, specifically Japan. I like very much your way of life, with the ancient culture, respect for themselves and for all living beings. I have little knowledge of this country, only what I've seen in documentaries, films or series, but the little that I like too the way they live, healthy living, quiet, worried about the environment, their traditions, their temples, their history, etc. For me it's a nice lifestyle. I would love to live in Japan to learn more about this country and if possible I would like to work in Animal Reserves as macaques, tanuki (raccoon), turtles, snakes, etc. Another thing I love about Japan is its flowering cherry trees in March and April, they are beautiful. The only problem would be the food, as it is very exotic with respect to Chile, it is the minimum.
Friends

My friends is a very important part of my life, it's my family, I'm an only child, I value even more. I have a little group of friends, but they are the best group in the world. My best friends were three in kindergarten.. Tamira, Loreto and Cristian. This friendship started at 4 years old in Punta Arenas and currently  friends right now. See infrequently, but keeping contact by facebook.

Then I move to Puerto Varas with my family, I met my other gruop of friends, their names are Amaia, Paula, Felipe and Arantxa. They are my best friends, never live me either good or bad moments, they are like a family. Currently living in Santiago and we see all every week. We traveled together, went out to eat frequently, accompany us when we miss our parents.

Now to enter the university, I met my final group of friends. We are seven women, Francisca, two Constanzas, Jocelyn, Macarena, Karina and Katherine, and increasingly want them more, they are very supportive every moment, because college is a stress sometimes. I hope that friendship increases until graduation of the career veterinary medicine.

I study veterinary because it’s my passion since I can remember, for a while I used to think that I could be a forensic doctor due to I used to watch so many series about it but then I went back to my original intentions, veterinary. In 2011 I started to study veterinary medicine in the Universidad Austral, in Valdivia, I studied two years there, but then I realized that the approach the college had wasn’t what I wanted so I decided to start over my studies in the Universidad de Chile in 2013. I always knew that one of my goals was to find a job something relationated with the Chilean fauna and wildlife conservation so I always try to take classes relacionated with these themes. Once I finish my studies I want to have a job completely relacionated with conservation, I wish I could work in CONAF and create projects for our beautiful and varied Chilean fauna.

My name is Gabriela Contreras Buvinic. I'm chilean woman. I'm 22 years old and I'm from Puerto Varas but I'm currently living in Santiago. I was born in the sourthern part of Chile, in Punta Areas on July 8th, 1992.

I lived there till I was and the I moved to Puerto Varas due to my father job. Puerto Varas is a really quiet and beautiful city, I like but Punta Arenas is my favorite Place. I have a really small family, just my parents and me. My mother is a teacher in a public school and my father works in a bank. I finished my school studies in Puerto Varas and then I moved to Santiago due to university. Now I live in Santiago just with my cat Ouca, I'm currently studing veterinary medicine in Universidad de Chile, coursing the third year.

I'm passionate about wild animals, especially the Chilean fauna and I would like to find a job relacionated with that. I also like the nature and the natural conservation, so do hiking or trekking is what I like the most.
